12/1/2007 - Founders of largest modular builder in the Pacific Northwest awarded Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ award

The Modular Buidling Institute (MBI) has announced that the co-founders of its long-time member, Britco Group, were honoured for outstanding achievement at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ 2007 awards ceremony. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ program is billed as Canada's premier business awards, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit and immense talent it takes to build successful businesses. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ program is international in scope and celebrates the best entrepreneurs on six continents.

The award is a significant milestone for Britco and coincides with the Company's 30-year anniversary. In 1977, Rick McClymont and David Taft started Britco in a one-room office in Vancouver. Thirty years later, Britco is a top-ten BC-based construction company with 300 employees and two large manufacturing facilities, one in Agassiz and the other in Penticton.

McClymont noted that being a successful entrepreneur is about building strong teams, "We are extremely proud of the hard work of all of our employees and for the commitment to excellence they demonstrate on the job every day."

Added Taft, "From day one, we were customer-focused and our goal was very simple: design and build the highest quality product for our customers in markets around the world."

The Company's success internationally was recognized when it was selected as one of BC's top exporters (www.bcexportawards.com) at the BC Export Awards in 2006. Britco won the award by landing a number of major international contracts, including a workforce housing complex for a 600-person gold mining project in Russia and a contract to build 448 panelized homes for Save the Children in tsunami-affected areas of Indonesia.

Britco is the largest modular builder in the Pacific Northwest, designing and manufacturing a wide variety of building types: workforce accommodation and industrial camp facilities for remote locations; office complexes, school classrooms; and custom-designed buildings including daycares, sales centres, hotels and residential townhouses.

Every year Britco showcases the broad range of skill, innovation and expertise of its design team and manufacturing workforce by designing and manufacturing the Prize Home for the Home Lottery held by the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), Vancouver's largest summer celebration, (www.pne.ca/pneprizehome).

Britco is headquartered in Langley with branch offices located in Nanaimo, Kelowna and Edmonton, Alberta and has the largest lease fleet of temporary office buildings, construction site trailers and storage containers in BC.
